Seward County, Nebraska, is a square piece of land, 24 miles each direction, containing 576 square miles. It is located sixty miles west of the Missouri River and forty miles south of the great Platte River, and lays primarily in the Big Blue River watershed. The land is gently undulating, a beautiful alternation of graceful, billowy prairie and winding valleys that drift with the timber-fringed streams away to the horizon. Rich in agricultural resources, present keepers of the soil have enhanced her worth with graceful terraces, soil saving wind breaks, ponds and shelter belts of trees. The climate, mostly favorable, is always changeable and quite unpredictable and usually the main topic of discussion.
