Recreation Frequently Asked Questions

Q How are the participants of youth sports separated into teams?
A Participants are divided by a draft system. Coaches are selected from a pool of volunteers. These coaches attend a meeting and take turns picking the players until all participants are on a team. The coaches then contact their players and set up their practice schedule.
Q Can we reserve picnic shelters in the parks?
A Picnic shelters cannot be reserved for use in the park – first come, first served.

I would like to volunteer to coach a Youth Recreation team – how can I help?

A We're always looking for volunteer coaches. Give us a call at the Rec. Office (643-3511) if you can help out.
Q How do I find out when your youth/adult programs start?
A All programs are advertised in the Seward County Independent under “Sports Shorts” for two weeks. We also take registration forms to all Seward schools where teachers hand them out. You can also access the registration forms on our web site. Forms are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in the lobby by the Rec. office at 537 Main Street, City Hall.
