Decoys are very important to a successful duck hunt. 1-2 dozen duck decoys, that look like ducks in your area can fool many ducks. Spinning wing decoys give flash and catch many bird's attention.

Calls are also very important to get weary ducks that know whats up. Calls don't have to break the bank, you can get a decent call that sounds good for around $40. You can find some cheaper, and you can find many that are more expensive, but the more a call is the better the quality and better the sound.

Blinds and hiding yourself is the most important thing you can do. You can easily build a blind, but I recommend buying one, since they look better. Layout blinds are good for hunting in the middle of field and along lakes or ponds. A-frames are good for hunting tree lines and along shores. Pit blinds are a great option if you have land and money, you can put them anywhere.
