Forget Fast Fashion with FCCLA

My Project

My Goal

To educate others on the harmful impacts of fast fashion and teach them how to make more sustainable fashion choices in the future.

My Plan

  1. Talk to my advisor about the logistics of carrying out my project

  2. Make posters and write announcements to advertise the main event of my project

  3. Host a workshop after school (which would be the main event of my project) where I would:

    1. Give attendees an overview of what fast fashion is and what the effects of it are

    2. Tell attendees ways to shop more sustainably, specifically by thrifting

    3. Give tips on how to get the most out of thrift shopping and how to thrift-flip

    4. Take everyone to et cetera where they can  try and find a sustainable garment they would like to purchase

    5. Have everyone who wants to ‘thrift-flip’ their garment come back to the school where assistance and sewing materials would be provided

  4. Check back in with workshop attendees one month later and ask them to complete a survey finding out whether they have made any efforts to shop more sustainably since the workshop

  5. Collect the survey data and report my results
